September 26–27, 2013 | Moscow, Russia

Mr. Kunwon YANG

Assistant Director, DFL, IGCI

Abstract

One of the biggest and most pervasive threats to security in our age, is cybercrime. Cybercrime is transnational in nature and no one country can fight it alone. And Most of the law enforcement are facing various challenges in fighting cybercrime, such as slowness of MLAs, restrictions in information sharing, time-lag in legal system, lack of resources, anti-forensic technologies.

We have sought to overcome challenges in cyberspace as we have done for border security management – placing technology in the hands of police so they can better fight cybercriminals. Finally, INTERPOL decided to do this with the establishment of the INTERPOL Global Complex for Innovation, and in particular the INTERPOL Digital Crime Center.

IGCI will build capacity and support police in their endeavors to confront 21st century crime and also develop public and private partnerships with various technology and cyber security sectors on potential projects and programs for the safe cyber world.
